2012 Chevrolet Caprice PPV

I appreciate the heads up, I'm not the best option for stock parts, but I'll give it a shot.

I can't get the stock cam for that price. Could get you an LS9 cam for around $280. Or a mild Howards cam for ~$380, pick up some ponies.

I can get you those for that price, I can't beat it.
For mild springs I usually get the GMPP ones that are good for a little more lift than the BTR, those are $100.

I don't sell ZZP, cheapest 7.400 pushrods I sell are Cam Motion or BTR for ~$120

I can piece that together with the GM cover and hardware, etc.
Cost would be similar with the GM chain damper, could of saved some coin if the Cloyes chain damper was in stock.

Everything I mentioned is in stock.
Sent you a pm

Yup. Gonna borrow the dongle and login info from my buddy again. I have all the tune files from Charles Barber saved on my laptop. He's great about doing tune adjustments for free after the initial tune purchase.

Stock LS3 cam, but I'll tune it with some chop. I'm going for reliability and low cost, not trying to impress the boomers and broccoli boys at cars and coffee.
I know what you mean, was just being funny. I only build my truck to impress me and make me happy.

Oh I'd love to have a big old nasty chopmaster 9000 in this thing with a loose stall and deep rear gears, maybe stick a procharger on it or slap on a pair of Hiroshima hairdryers. But it's just a daily commuter.

Tokyo twisters can easily be a daily!

Did you know GM Performance Parts uses the same packaging for their camshafts as Pillsbury does for Grands biscuits?

I guess that's what I get for trying to save some dough.

The dowel trick I learned from the youtubes worked really well. I cut in half a 5/16" x 48" dowel, sanded down the ends a bit, and spun the factory cam around several times to get the lifters up. Inserted the rods, slid the old cam out, and slid the new cam directly in its place.
Pulled out the dowels, and voila! Cam swapped.

No photos of that, since me and my boy's hands were covered in sticky assembly lube. Next up is to install the new cam gear, a 1 bolt style to fit the LS3 cam.

In order to replace the stock 2017 L96 springy cam chain tensioner with a solid LS2 style, I have to remove the oil pump. To do that, I need to remove the oil pump pickup tube. To do that, I need to remove the pan.
And now I am concerned that my timing chain may be too long. We will hopefully soon find out.
Here's what it looked like before the cam removal, as reference.

Well fellers, looks like I need a new (shorter) timing chain.

No.. that's right that's what they're like

My last one didn't even have the block in the center and had more play. It ran AWESOME.
