Not yet. Sounds like they aren't going gung ho with this car yet. They are just buying them from holden, sticking chevy badges on it, and seeing if it will sell. If it does, they will expand the options. As it is, you get 2 options. Sun roof and something else which I forget now... Anyway this car is basically a 2014 Pontiac g8. Holden, an Australian manufacturer, as been building Pontiac g8s this whole time in right hand drive.

I have been waiting in anticipation on these for the past year or two. I believe they are going to be about $49k out the door which is a great deal compared to the Mercedes and BMW M3/M5 but compared to the SRT 300C which I have seen at dealers as low as $33k at year end with rebates it is almost $15k more. I was hoping it was going to be under $40k as I would be more interested.

My wife wants a BMW or Camaro so I might still be able to swing one of these this fall but $49k is a lot of dough!

GM offers some really cool cars over in New Zealand and Australia and they tease us every couple of years by bringing them stateside to the auto shows and rebadging them as Chevrolets. By the time the GTO made it here it was very dated looking and I thought it was a dissapointment.

I had a friend that got ahold of the Holden version of an El Camino and he imported here as well as a Monaro. Very nice cars and GM made!

Indeed. I was deeply saddened when it died initially. So i couldn't be more excited to see it reappear.

from reading the specs it sounds to me like it's meant to compete with the SHO. Sticker price is about the same too although it does have more ponies (415 vs. 360).

Its what the american family man wants. Four door sedan for practicality, 415hp for fun! I would like to see what would happen to the MPG with the direct injected 5.3 swapped in  I bet you could hit low 30s on the highway.

I really dig the new SS as well. Good thing the Australian’s hung strong with RWD sedans unlike the pansy American based GM engineering team! Although, I am of the opinion GM asking way too much for that car. Hell, one could get a Charger SRT8 for much less dough than the Chevrolet SS.

As much as I love the SS (and Charger), I really have a hard on for the refreshed 2014 Camaro. They fixed all the things that I didn’t care for before…mainly those unsightly ugly taillights it used to have. Looks Camarolicious now! :tongue1:

I think the story behind this car is it started out as a pontiac g8 then a holden commodore now chevy is rebadgeing it as a ss.

The cops have been getting these cars for awhile now also, looks more like a g8 with chevy emblems though

Amen. :waytogo:

I may be a family man, but I'm not dead yet. I can still have a little fun even though now it's got 4-doors and a baby seat in the back....

The other day a Mustang GT came running up behind me trying to let me know he was a big-dog. I looked in the mirror at him and smiled. My wife and little boy were in the car with me at the time, and that was the only thing that saved him from absolute humiliation. Next time he sees me, he may not be so lucky...... getting killed by a "sleeper" is going to be tough on his fragile ego.
