So would any one be interested in this as an easy trail run at 2015 get together in Moab? Stock vehicles would be ok on this adventure.

That's fine if you want to do that but it will have to be on your own. I can't list a sign up for it through the registration. Just start a new thread about this specifically.

I will do a recon run before hand!

Here is what I was thinking the back way into Arches is Willow Springs Road (I exited park in 2006 via it). So I guess that means I would be the front door of a convoy into Arches!!!

The Salt Valley and Willow Flats roads are unpaved. Salt Valley can normally be driven in a family car, but a 4X4 may be needed during stormy weather. High clearance four-wheel-drive is recommended for the Willow Flats road, which has a 3 rating because of deep sand.

This easy trail leads down a long pretty valley into the north end of Arches National Park. It is best suited for high-clearance vehicles, because of the long stretches of deep sand traps that can quickly bog down a regular vehicle. In wet weather this road quickly becomes impassable to even 4WD vehicles, and the National Park Service may close it temporarily in wet conditions. Special Attractions: Alternative entrance to Arches National Park; Hiking trail to Tower Arch; Easy trail along a long and scenic valley. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions

We could go Willow springs to Salt Valley then into the park just south of Devil's Garden/Fiery Furnace. Then head north to the loop (turn around) at Devil's Garden and then south to Wolf ranch and Delicate Arch. From there to Double arch and if we want south on out the park and out the main entrance past the gate! If we want to be sneaky we go right back out the way we came in but we might have to put on our fish costumes pass out the Vaseline and an extra ration of Rum!

It is about a 4.5 hour trek with stops at the view points.

Don't forget there is a $10 entry fee for Arches Nat'l Park.

No fee by going in on Willow Springs roads! :pimp:

Not trying to detract from the official events! I will be doing this myself in Big Red to avoid any damage to it. Would any one be interested I was thinking doing it Friday? Thoughts and what day would you prefer?

All of my posts are copyrighted. I require $100 for usage rights...

BTW, I think Friday is a great idea. You all can still meet up at Old City Park for the m&g and then head out from there.

Just because it is an alternate entrance does not necessarily mean you don't have to pay the fee. You can enter Hells revenge without going past the little pay booth but you still have to pay the fee to be inside the area. I would imagine it is the same for arches national park. You might want to check just to be sure.

Going in the back way still reqires the fee. The only diference is that you pay on the way out. I know people who have not paid the fees by using in and out at the no kiosk entrance. I know of one group who was lead all of the way to the entrance by a ranger to pay. They look for that stuff.

I don't think we will be more than five or six vehicles. I will pay the $10 per up to six trucks. I have the Access pass so mine is free. Here are the passes that are available and the requirements for the free ones too.

I have been blessed by many here and I can save up $60 by then to cover the six trucks. As it stands there are only two as of now.

No way Lawrence. Not I only do I insist on paying my own fees, I insist on paying for yours and everyone else who signs up (No limit). Now I just gotta make sure my POS is done and I make it there. :D

Some year if I make it to Moab; this trip is what I would like to do.
I really like this idea:waytogo:

Is there any trails that are easy to travel that would put you near some of the tough obstacles you could see other guys beat their trucks in Moab for other trail options?

Unfortunately "easy" is such a relative term. There are trails with "easier" routes around more difficult obstacles that are nice to watch the more built trucks attempt.

Gotcha these are good things to know:waytogo: I guess when I get there I'll have to decide ease.

I will do a recon run before hand!

A stock-friendly run greatly increases my odds of making it out to BB (as my trucks both have stock-ish capabilities).

Not sure if we'll make it out. But we will definitely consider this. And we are also considering meeting up with you for the recon run (as discussed previously). Not likely that both would work out, but we'll prolly make it to one of them. :thumb:

I visited Arches last month and left on Willow Springs Road. It's not a bad little drive, definetly more stock friendly
