Whats the scoop on the auto trans of this era? Have heard horror stories about the 6 speed auto's, are the 10 speed's decent? Whats the scoop?

Like my 8 speed and the wife’s 10 speed seems to be doing well.

107,xxx on mine and 37,xxx on hers.

Lower than SM465 1st gears and multiple OD’s is pretty nice.

I liked my ‘11’s 6 speed too. Low 1st, 2 OD’s, and built off the 4L80 family.

GM does seem to be building their transmissions now for more beef. As if they finally realized 300+ hp shouldn’t be processed through a glorified TH700R4.

The 8 and 10 speed first gear is no where near as low as an SM465…

The 6 speeds are decent once you delete the factory thermostat that makes it run way too hot from the factory

No complaints for the 8spd in my wife’s 2020 for the 40k we owned it. Don’t know why I bought a 2wd truck. Dumb.

We had the 6 speed go out twice in our company 2019 Silverado, once at 40K, and leaving the dealer after they "fixed" it, yup two miles away.

I’m planning to run 10spd in my build. Everything Ive seen is that they are very stout and well built. Was co-designed/built with Ford, and there are tons of awd blown 5.0 f150s with 700+hp running around on the street out there, racing stoplight to stoplight and roll racing to 140+ and they are holding up well.
