2021 Leaked Bronco pic...

40 grand in one of my old vehicles and it would be pretty nice.

As good as a 2020... No. Also you get something with an older vehicle you can never ever, ever , ever get with a new one.

Style.
We’ll agree to disagree on the style. My desktop is a 1970 Chevrolet SS and my daily is a 2016 charger scat pack. Two very different cars with very different styles but both gorgeous in their own way.

Only way you wouldn't have more suspension travel, ride quality and performance building your own for $40k is if you outsource a complete build and restoration. The only argument you can make would be for reliability of stock and maybe squeak/rattle. Even creature comforts like bluetooth, Nav and heated seats are relatively cheap compared to sticker price. The REAL difference is a new rig gets financed easy/peasy where building your own requires actual money.

I’ve done a full restoration. A 1977 Bronco for my dad. Complete frame off. We are at $37,000 and climbing and haven’t touched the suspension beyond shocks and springs. Much less AC, heated seats, yadda yadda, although we do have bluetooth. Only work I didn’t do myself was the body work and roll cage. Again, we will agree to disagree on new vehicles being evil.

Well body work is a complete killer.
I bet my 67 chevelle I'm building will handle and drive better then your scat pack.
And I'm not even close to 40k. In fact I'm not even over 20k yet....

The problem is that no two restorations is the same.
What's the builder skill level? What was the original car/trucks shape?
What does he desire from the build? Heated seats and AC are not things I need in my chevelle.
Also how do you spend your money. Do you spend money on high end parts or do you get by with cheaper or middle level parts?
So 40k is not a universal measure of a build.

I think it would be really challenging to build up something like an old K5 so it could cruise safely and comfortably down the interstate at 80 mph with one finger on the steering wheel like you can with a new vehicle. I think when people are serious about having an "old" vehicle be reliable, they basically just drop an old body down on a new vehicle chassis. I could be wrong, but I would have no confidence that even $40K could make an old truck into a cross country capable family vehicle.

I've sunk a ton of money into my K5 over the years, admittedly with more of an eye to off roading, but it sits on 35s, same as the new Bronco, and I'd never take it out on the interstate in rush hour, or for prolonged cruising at 75-85 mph. I know people say they cruise their K5's on the interstate, but would they really give their keys to their wife or mother to drive alone that way like they would with a modern car?

You’ll end up with a restored truck that still won’t ride, drive, handle, or be as comfortable as a new one. I love old trucks because they are easy to work on but when I can climb in my 14 Silverado or 16 charger that I’ve remote started and has the ac and cooled seats (or heater and heated seats and steering wheel(yes this is way nicer than it sounds)) and I can set the cruise at 70mph and get 20+mpg with no creaks, rattles, groans, or wind noise. Hate on the new stuff, but it’s nice.

I agree... sinking that much money into an older rig will not make it drive and handle like a new rig all of the sudden. I definitely don’t hate on the new stuff . I drive a GMC Canyon for my work truck and we have a Duramax dually for pulling a horse trailer and hauling hay. Every vehicle has their purpose.

I think my main point was in regards to my unjustified brand loyalty. I’d rather sink that much money into an older GM and have a really well set up and capable off-road rig. It wouldn’t necessarily be my daily driver, although, a $40,000 square body would be a fairly reliable and solid truck...
I wonder after all the aftermarket goodies come out for these new Broncos; how well they will perform off road when compared to an older rig that is set up really well?

I'm just excited to see someone else other than Jeep make something like this. It would be cool to have something like this to do some light wheeling or off roading while the blazer is down for repairs//upgrades. It would be great to be able to drive it to my deer lease and use it out there instead of riding around in the ranger when it's 35* outside. Not gonna lie, the appeal of easily being able to pop the doors and top off is a plus for me just to cruise around in. I just really wish they'd put the manual behind the bigger engine or put a Coyote motor in to it. A 7 spd manual behind the coyote would be killer.

After a 25-year hiatus, the Ford Bronco returns to dealer showrooms next spring. You can put down a $100 deposit and get in line right now for the two-door, four-door, and related Bronco Sport. The two-door model starts at $29,995, the four-door base price is $34,695 (both prices include destination fee).

I like the new Bronco much better than the Blazer. I'd cover it up too...

PICS of your Chevelle? I had a '67 SS in high school. Best car I ever had...

That bagged up Blazer looks like a mashup of the last Cadillac wagon and my wife's Edge.

Audi spin cammo new models or prototypes, sometime will bag them when driven on public streets or highways. That Blazer's owner was just too embarrassed to be seen during daylight.
