I have a sm465 with a twin stick now. For awhile ive been debating doing a doubler setup. Who has them with the combo that i spoke of? was it really worth the expense? ive seen kits anywhere from 699.00-750.00 seems alil high to me plus i see that ill have to machine my case and install a diff input shaft. Just looking for some info from the people that have them and where they got theres? Someone besides ORD must be making these.

With the 465 you already have a pretty low gear setup, but depends on the wheeling you do. I run a doubler with a th350 automatic and love it, best mod I ever did besides 1 tons. Besides the low gears, another bonus is the gearing options you have. Still have stock gear ratio in high, still have stock low range, then you have double low, but can bump up through any gear on the tranny opposed to running it in first like I always did before.

In the low-low it is so much easier on your tranny and your case the clutch i would think. Plus you can keep a relatively high gear in the axles keeping hte pinion stronger and what now, I run factory 4.10s.

As far as doubler companies, there is

ORD- aluminum clockable when order- most expensive
Northwest Fab- aluminum, fully clockable through adapter
Jeds Machining -steel, fully clockable, but must weld yourself- cheapest as far as i know
Sumner Machine- dont know much about this one

I have a 465 but its not a twin stick. I have it mated to the a 203/205, I had to machine out my 205 and up grade to 31 spline imput and 32 spline out put plus the cost of the doubler. If I had to do it all over again I would just do the lo max 205. Oh don't forget you have to buy the triple stick shifter or twin stick. Having the gearing with the doubler is totally worth it but it requires alot of work.

I have done the doubler set-up: SM465, NP203/Np205, and yes, it is expensive, but it is worth it, in my opinion. I wouldn't suggest scrimping in this area though, it's just time consuming and hard work to go cheap here. There are several manufacturers of doubler kits, and honestly, by the time you get all of the 'extras' here and there, I don't think any one of them winds up being significantly cheaper. I used a NWF kit in my truck, basically it was alright quality wise, but most of the stuff I had bought previously was from ORD (great stuff). I do like the adjustability of clocking the NWF kit, and I have used that feature. As far as I'm concerned, the only way to do this cheaply is if you have a machinist, or are one yourself.

The Lo Max is another great option, and I considered it too. I guess I just felt the doubler gave me more gearing options, front and rear axle control, and simply looks kewl with four shifters in the cab!

lol i def wont be drivin the blazer after a couple beers! Think for now im gona just stick with my twin stick and see how it does with the new rears under it. eventually ill probly do it but with getting married this summer i just dont think ill have enough extra funds to do it the correct way. (not something i really wana skimp on) thanks for all the input guys!
