203 chain help

you should be able to measure the width of the chain
to find out which one you need. If I remember correctly my 79 took the 2 inch chain

Pulled mine apart last night and found out it was a 2.5" chain. I was just curious why they switched and what the differences are/were between the two cases. Also if there was a way "externally" to tell which chain lies within. Also 78 was the crossover year so everybody I called said it could be one or the other, but that if I had a 77 and below case it was a 2.5 and if I had a 79 it was a 2. I guess that's just the type of luck I have....
