203 switch to 205 ?

I have a 79 gmc 3/4 pu, automatic with 203 transfer case also have 205 case from 80 gmc 1/2 pu with standard transmission will I need some thing I dont have (adapter plate or different lentgh drive shaft ) thank's ,Ken

Yeah you will need the correct input shaft in the case.The input for the std trans will be 10 spline and the automatic will be either 27 or 32 spline depending on the trans you have.

You will have to have an adapter for the case as well and it will depend on the trans as to what adapter you'll need.

The 80 model case will probably be a slip yoke,so you will either have to change it to fixed yoke,or put a slip on your shaft.

More than likely you will have to get at least one shaft fixed.You might be OK with the front.
 
It's not a bad swap but I would suggest trading someone your 465 version 205 for a th350 version 205 with adaptor. Then it's as easy as pie. You will still need a different rear shaft no matter if your case is slip yoke or fixed. The front one should still work fine. Oh, You'll want to put some lock outs on the front hubs too.
