This may be a stupid question, but can I just remove the flange from the front driveshaft on my 203 and make it work on the 205? shorten or lengthen the driveshaft as needed.

do you have both t-cases sitting around? shouldn't be hard to try to bolt the flange to the 205 and you'd know for sure if it worked...

What transmission are you using? The 4X4 TH350 has a 27 spline short output that works with a 203 and a 205.

The 205 is a yoke style and the original 203 had a flange. Can I just press the flange off the driveshaft and bolt it to the 205? Or press the flange off and install a different u-joint to bolt up to the 205?

Shouldn't be a problem as long as they're both 30 spline front outputs, some of the early NP205's were 10 spline front output shafts.

They are both 1977 transfer cases so would that mean that it would work?

You are right around the changeover years, GM was notorious for carrying old stock over from year to year - your best bet is to pull the yoke off, and if the NP205 flange is 30 spline - your in business.
