203 to 205 swap

T400/203 tranny & transfer case currently, I bought a 32 spline 205 off a T400 to swap in place of the 203. My question is. Can I use the adapter that is currently on the transmission? I don't want to get this pig of a transfer case up there only to find out it will not bolt up for some reason.

No it's a different adapter

And there's a coupl different types. Did you get a round pattern or figure 8 205?

figure 8. I go to pick up the 205 on Monday. Hopefully he has an adapter also!

other problem is .......................... th400 is wrong tail shaft for the 205 .

th350 can swap 203/205 no problem .

but th400 is different length tail shaft for 203 AND 205 . . .

This is pissing me off. I think the easiest solution is a doubler. I'm not going to buy an adapter & a output shaft just to swap them back out in a year. Thanks for the help!

Yep, doubler. change driveshafts once.

Yea,,,, this whole project escalated quickly. I had a running truck to start with & the only thing I ended up using out of it was the Dana60 & tranny!

Your best off just running the 203 (which is funny saying) until you get the doubler. If you was to want to ditch the 203, set up the 400 to run the 241 and double it instead. Much better and lighter outcome.

Plan is as follows. Bolt the 203 back up. Throw the rear shaft back in. ( it still fits after 14bolt swap). Put this truck in storage till spring. I'll save for a doubler kit, gears & drivelines. I'll be GTG by spring.
