So I've been slowly building my 73 k5 and it's been due to budget .. So far the whole inside floor has been rhino lined fixed speedo has a decent lift for now will do shackles not to long from here. And a whole bunch of other misc. stuff I can't remember right now but the main reason I'm writing this is that I've already replaced the 203 tcase nd still having trouble with it shifting so I'm saying the heck with it I'm just going to swap it with a 205. The only problem is that it's been a little difficult to find a 27 spline which I know I can replace the 32 spline with the 27. But also the adapter to the th350... I know I'm going to have to cut drive shafts but if anyone has any suggestions for a cost effective swap I'm all ears or has wat I'm looking for for a good price I would really appreciate it.. Ps first post so I apologize in advance if its in the wrong area

a 27 spline np205 should not be hard to find however the adapter is and when you can find one they're usually expensive. They also crack really easy so you need to look it over closely or buy a new adapter from Advanced Adapter.

I did this exact swap in my K10.

1st wlcome to ck5 .

2nd wrong setion this is for full on builds . not general questions . don't worrie tho a mod will move it for you .

3rd 203 stock shifters were not best designed and problematic . lots just do a twin stick shifter kit for them to get rid of stock shifter . offroad design sells a bolt in kit if your 203 has a part time kit in it already . http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/NP203TwinStickShifters.htm

going to a 205 is fine . no gearing advantage tho . just no chain inside it and easy to rebuild over a 203 .

swaping in a small input gear in a 205 with large input is not as easy . this would require a special size bearing . a 10 spline 205 from a 4 speed stick truck would be a easy swap tho as they both are small bearing case .

Ya I've seen the price for adapters and they could cost as much as the tcase it's self and the 205 seem to be a little pricy in my area also... And thanks for the welcome

SoCal Ventura county area. I wouldn't mind driving a couple hours but whenever I look at LA area I don't find to much. I found a guy on here that gave me a decent price I think 2 or 3 hundred bucks just rebuilt with every thing I needed besides driveshafts but he was located on other side of country and shipping would absolutely kill me

Some people seem to think 205's are gold. I paid $50 for the t-case and the th350 adapter.

No reason to pay more than $150 for a 27 or 10 spline NP205. If you can find a 10 spline cheap enough you could swap in the 27 spline input to match your th350. Or you could buy the ORD 27 to 10 spline coupler http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/transfercaseparts.htm
