203 to a 205 swap, new rear shaft or both?

my 203 in my 76 k-10 long bed is trashed. I want to put in a 205 transfer but I have been told new shafts is a must. Would the front shaft need to changed also? I thought the housing was just shorter on the 205

Trying to do this the cheapest possible, could factory shafts fit from 72-75?

In short... both shafts need to be replaced or worked over.
