what is the "thing" that is on the 203 transfer case called where the speedometer cable is connected? The "thing" is in between the speedometer cable and the t case. The speedometer cable screws onto this not the t case itself.

???

it might be a ratio adapter, might have been used when there were no speedo gear combos for the axle ratio

Seem to remember they have a gearbox before the cable......mine also has a VSS unit on my '78 for the TBI motor.

Are you talking about the piece that is held into the t-case or a piece that threads onto the t-case?

If it is held in, that's a speedometer gear sleeve if I remember my GM lingo correctly, but if it threads onto the piece that sticks out of the t-case, has a "drop" to it, then on the other side the cable threads onto it, it's a ratio adapter.
