203vs. 208

[ QUOTE ]
which is a better transfer case a 203 with part time kit of a 208?

[/ QUOTE ]NP-205 /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I would say they both suck. The 203 is heavy and has crappy low range. The 208 is aluminum, not as strong, and slip yoke.

If I had to pick my poison I'd go with the 208 because it has a better low range, but the 205 or 241 beat both of them hands down.

Thats not what he asked.

Depends, the 203 is a stronger case mainly because of it's cast iron housing but the 208 has a much better low range, is light, and easier to find in the wrecking yard and doesn't require internal modifications to make it part time.

Not in AZ , the 3 I did find today ( all on phone work ) were 450.00, 400.00 and 350.00 w/exchange. I found 3 np241's for 150.00 each, that was much easier to do , which is weird , 89 np241 was a one year GM case /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

As to the strength of a np208 , mine made noise shifting off road for 3 years, and repeated beating on it off road and daily driving, I got 131,000 out of mine, and it still grabbed a gear ( 4lo ) and let me make it home /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

i have a THM350 with a 203 on it how hard would it be to put the 208 on it

[/ QUOTE ]

Shouldn't be hard, if you have all of the parts it should bolt right up...personally I would get a 205 over a 208

I sold mine for $300 locally. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

NP203 is only good for making a doubler. It weighs more than twice what a NP208 does, has a shitty low range, and still has a crappy chain in it. The only "benefit" of a NP203 is that it has fixed yokes.
