anyone lower their 205 crossmember..?.. how low can you lower it...??? still looking for rear slip yoke shaft. im changing my truck from 208 to a 205 sat morning, i got an 80 4spd, front shaft, 205 case, crossmember, rear slip yoke and front flange....all i missing is the rear shaft and how far i can lower the crossmember...

i lowered my 208 1.5 and it didnt do much to the front and it made the rear perfect

put the old style trans with hydro clutch and a 205 in today, lowered the case an inch and both angles look good and just that rear shaft is it....

your front shaft is going to bind, if you haven't clearanced it yet. a 465/205 is the shortest front shaft also, so that will make the front shaft angle worse. you lower it too much and the distributor is going to be very close to the firewall. you have a lifted truck for clearance, and you just some of it away by lowering the t-case.

i checked for shaft bind and angles , the shaft has a long way to go to bind. it seems real good i drove it around the block and flexed it around a bit and it seemed good and the slip part of the shaft seems good also. the rear shaft has to be lengthened some from the 208, i found a 3/4 ton long bed shaft to cut shorter....the dist is a mallory unilite and it seems to be real good and the motor doesnt have much angle at all............thanks alot for the tips its much appreciated
