i just unpacked my new, rebuilt 205 tcase. i pushed it over on its front (input shaft faceing down) removed the square plug in the back and started pouring in my oil. i put in 4 quarts, replaced the plug and turned it upright. thats when i noticed the puddle of oil on the table WTF. so i tilted it forward till oil started coming out and it was coming out of one of the middle, threaded holes that the adapter bolts to. is this okay, i replaced the quart that pourd out by pouring it back through the hole it had spilled out of. i also noticed while handling the case that u can grab the input shaft and pull it out about a quarter of an inch, is this normal?? any help would be great, thanks!!!!

You don't have the adapter on, right?Well then you need to bolt the adapter on and put thread sealants on the treads for the adapter bolts. The bolt holes are though holes.

The input shaft movement is normal when the adapter is not bolted on. The bearing on the input shaft has an external snap ring on it. This ring is sandwiched between the adapter and t-case body holding the input shaft in place.

the shaft slip is normal do to the design just like nvrenuf said, and so is the leakage. Those holes are drilled all the way through the case. I always waited to service my 205 until after it was up and mounted. Those things are heavy enough as it is!
