The rear seal on my 205 leaks. It's been replaced several times, and has the rear most bearing
The concern is that with the wheels chocked and no load on the drive line, you can move the driveshaft up and down enough to visually confirm movement at the out put flange...8282D4D9-DA72-4FD4-B4EF-E9507FFF5852.jpeg

Is the rear output housing that holds the bearing wore out? I have replaced one out of a hundred because new bearings were loose in the cast housing.

It didn't seem that bad. but I also did not check it with a set of mics or calipers

The bearing seemed "okay" on the shaft and in the output case, but movement was still noticeable.
I didn't have to drive the bearing in

Take off the seal retainer and see where the play is. Might be the inner rollers too. Not likely though.
Only real way to see if the shaft is bent is to spin it. Seen a dana 20 with a bent output shaft before. Really tough one to find there.

I was actually curious about the rollers. Unfortunately there's not a sheet somewhere that lists the tolerances

bearing should be snug slid in fit .

thats were your first play would come from since he is right behind the seal retainer .

i have a few rear housings if you need one and dont have one or find local .

Have the same trouble with my k5. Tolerances were seaming tight at time of rebuild. Let me know what comes of it

Well at least I’m in good company

Three seals in a year is bad though

I have this same problem...Im going to pull the rear shaft and swap the seal or 2, might just pull the output and check it all out on the bench.

I did that when I changed the seal last.
Probably give it another look before seal slamming it...

They all wobble more than you would think they should. That makes it pretty hard to say how much is too much without a dial mike on it and not many people have one or care to use it there.

Well I have one and can nerd out if needed.
About 4k miles on this 205 since I installed the doubler. Third seal is in it and leaking like crazy.

I'm not an enginerd but there is definitely something not to spec causing that.
I suspect worn roller bearings or a bad bushing

New drive flange from woods

Used case an innards. New bearings and seals all the way around. The roller bearings and bushings were not replaced.

I use thread sealant on the splines...
