so the adaptor for the round 205 is the same as the 208/241 for the sm465? i just read it somewhere. and the 205 for the th400 has a shorter input then the 205 for the 32spline sm465? read that too. just want to check make sure it is correct.

Actually the length is the same, but the 208 adapter doesn't have the mount for a shifter.

Actually, the length is different:
sm465 to round Np205 adapter is 10 inches long
sm465 to NP208/241 adapter is 8.5 inches long, no shifter boss
sm465 to figure 8 NP205 adapter is 8 inches long
TH350 to figure 8 NP205 adapter is 3.5 inches long
TH400 to figure 8 NP205 adapter is 4 inches long
TH400 to round NP205 adapter is 4 inches long
4L80E to round NP205 adapter is (I think) 4 7/8 inches long--I've never seen one in real life.
Also to note here is the round adapters are shorter than the figure eight adapters, and therefore use either the single or double hump crossmember, whereas the figure eight or tall adapter uses the (relatively) flat crossmember.

i love the info that is shared here. as always thanks for all the help, and info.

If I have a 205 with a th350 and want to replace the th350 with a th400, would it bolt up or do i need some sort of adapter?

Thanks,
Chris

this i know. different adaptor and the input of a 350 is 27 spline and the 400 is 32 spline. gotta change inputs too.

unless you search and find the adaptor bearing for the 27 to 32 input swap. you will need to machine the case for the bigger bearing.

easy way is to find a 205 and adaptor for the 400. i'm sure you can find, buy, or trade here. just post it.
