I am switching over from a th350/203 to a th400/205 32 spline. This is temporary. In a year or so I will be putting in the 4l80. The 205 I found has a slip yoke. I want to go to a fixed CV yoke but I will just end up having to shorten it when I go to the 4l80 because it is bout 3 inches longer than the th400. I have never had a slip yoke. What problems can I expect to have with the slip yoke if any? I dont rock crawl just run in the sand. I have 6" lift and the angle wasnt bad with my 203 fixed. Will my angle be bad with a slip yoke? Should I just go with the fixed yoke now and shorten the shaft when I go 4l80 or will the slip yoke be ok till then? Thanks in advance

The only problems I see is that if/when you break a joint you will have to fix it or replace the shaft or all your fliud in the case will come out.Or the shaft might slip out when the susp is fully unloaded, like when jumping.

As 1-tonmudder said, the biggest problem I have with my slip yoke 205 is that if I blow a u-joint on the trail I have to fix it on the trail, there is no driving somewhere to fix it. With it removed you can dump the oil out of the 205 in a hurry. I would say switch to the fixed and shorten the driveline when you put in the 4l80, it may be more cost, but could save you in the long run.
