i just swaped in a 400/205 and my cable is just a little short and its like new. so can i just clock the rear tail housing around to hook it up?

or would i be better off finding a spin on 90 adaptor for the cable to be pointed were it needs to be?

i have seen a few pics of them in diffrent positions before. just wanted to make sure. thanks.

if you clock the tail housing it will only go one way so you really can't what about a cable extention or another how much are they really ?

I don't think so. Sure the bolt pattern is same and you could clock it, but there is one part of the casting that cover the opening for the upper shift rail. There is also the oil drain back hole.
I have the same problem with my blazer. The later model NP205 have the speedo drive on the passenger side. I've not gotten a new cable yet.
I already have my current tailhousing powercoated, so I not going to change it, but you could change to a early model NP205 tailhousing which is clocked to the driver's side.

Cannot be clocked but there are at least 2 different housings that i'm aware of. One puts the speedo on the drivers side and the other on the passenger side. Which one do you currently have? I have another speedo housing but i don't remember if it's from a Ford or not. I can check it out on monday if needed.

I put a chevy end on my ford and it puts it upside down so I would imagine if you did it the other way it would do the same.
