I have a round pattern 205 with a long 32 spline input. I was tossing the idea around of selling it, but decided I might try this instead some time in the future. I was told you can use this t case (with the long input) behind a 400/208-241 adapter with cable shifters. If this is true I will most likely do it and get a Lomax kit for it. I don't have the 205 adapter because it was broke but I have a few 400/208 adapters. Can anybody confirm that this can be done?

Does anybody know how long the factory round adapter is?
If you still need the measurement, I can get it for you this weekend. The 205 I'm using for my doubler is a round pattern and I still have the adapter

If you don't mind. I believe they are the same so I am pretty sure this idea will work.

on my "89" th400-205 (32-spline long input/round pattern) the adaptor is right at 4" face to face

The th 400, 208 adapter is only 2.480 thick. They do bolt together with some clearencing for the shift rails on the passenger side of the adapter facing the 205. But my output shaft (4x4 th400) was too long with the long input on the 205. Off Road Design said that there can be front drive shaft contact with the trans pan when using the 208 adapter. I have heard of using a spacer with the 208 adapter (about 1.52 inches would add up to the 4.00 of the real adapter) but do not have facts to back it up. Hope this helps.
