What can and cant be swapped from a ford to chevy 205? I just picked up a ford 205 and wanted to make sure i can steal the rear fixed yoke out put.

dont think it will work. if i recall the bolt pattern is backwards then the pass side drop stuff.

Yep, Chevy and Ford cast housing is different.
but isnt the speedo section cast iron the same from slip to fixed yoke and you just need the shaft and seal retainer to swap. ? i have seen them sold like this before.
and sell the ford 31 spline input guys want them for doubler kits. recoup some of your cash out.

Damn, but i can at least use the front output right. I paid 50 bucks for the thing so im not out alot of cash.
ive gont one here that had a ford rear output on it or so i think. the spedometer was on the opposite side than chevy but it bolted together just fine. never got to run it though.
The front output is a direct swap for sure, I've done it.
AFAIK, everything but the case and shift rails are identical between passenger and driver drop 205's (and of course, some differences with spline counts, etc.).
Speedo gears are different (gears are cut in one direction for a chevy and the opposite direct for a ford).

If your asking if the rear yokes are intrchangable? yes they are. I have a ford 205 in my 72 blazer D side drop with a flange yoke on the rear, cummins M/T input

Right now my chevy 205 has a slip yoke. I am asking if i can swap the ford fixed yoke onto the chevy case to get a fixed yoke.
Could i use the ford fixed yoke housing with the chevy speedo gears?

Yep
Not sure on that, but I bet you can.
The Ford 205's I've dealt with all had yoke style front outputs.

Just swaped the rear fixed yoke from the ford to the chevy case. Everthing was interchangeable. I used the chevy speedo gear. It slid right onto the ford shaft.
I have another question tho, Why do i want a 32 spline front output? The stock one is 30 spline so shouldnt that be enough strength? Or is there some other reason i need it like a certain flnage that is only made in 32 spline?

you can use nearly any yoke you want with 32 spline, with the 30 youre pretty limited to chevy only front yokes. maybe only two.
A Chevy rear housing fits on a Ford its just on the wrong side and upside down
