I need to remove my 205 from the back of my TH350. Never done this before and a bit intimidating. Is there a basic write up on removal or can someone post a quick explanation on how to do it. I believe it's just a matter of drive shaft removal, speedo cable removal and I think 4 bolts mating it to the adapter or end of trans, right???? once everything is unbolted does the t-case just slide off, out and down?

My reason to take it out is it is popping out of 4-Lo when under load. Think I need to replace the springs and little ball on the detent of the shift rails. It doesn't pop out in 4-Hi. What can yo tell me? THanks.

You got it, other than the minor shifter removal . then the fun begins. I hope you have bodybuilder lifting skills , a awesome jack or a few buddies. Expect that SOB to weigh in near 100lbs, in one awkward a** posotion

Rather than the bench-pressing exercise, you might want to consider getting a transmission jack or a transmission adapter for a floor jack. I did this when I had my 208 out - set the bottom plate of the transmission adapter to match the angle of the case, and used several ratchet straps to secure the case to the plate. Then it was easy to unbolt the case and just roll it out from under the truck; reinstallation was also a breeze.

That's a good idea on the jack adapter. saw one one Northern Tool yesterday for $45.

Question: Am I unbolting the 205 from the Trans or from the adapter that attaches to the crossmember?
