is anyone running this setup? do they make a doubler? i am running a 208 in my truck. i have a 241 just sitting in my garage that came out of 91 suburban. i was going to swap in the 241 but it has the electric speedo. i want lower 4low range. thanks for the help guys.

I wouldn't trust the 241 after a range box. About the only t-case I would feel good about in a full size behind a range box is a 205.

thanks for the quick reply. your truck looks so much like mine except mine has a white top and smaller tires. i just thought about trying it being that i have an extra transfer case lying around. i am running stock gears 3.08 which i plan on changing. i just don't want to put too much into stock 10 bolts only to pick up some 3/4 ton or 1 ton axles later on. here are a couple pics. these are with my soft top, not real pretty but made it for about 70 bucks. there are no more seats in back, they were only in there for that trip. buddy's truck broke down at last minute, too many people to go. will never have 7 people in there again.

Go ahead and try it, just be careful on the throttle with the 208 in low range. Worst case you blow it up right. :D

I think you are on the right track by not investing in the 10 bolts. Save up for 1 tons. :deal:

More info on the soft top please. :waytogo:

the frame for the top is made out of 1/2 electrical conduit from home depot. i used the 90 degree pieces to get the arch right and then welded it all together to flat steel that runs on top of the bed, bolts into factory holes for top. the top is made out of 9 yards of marine vinyl. sewed two 4.5 yard pieces together in my front yard. i used some grommets on the sides, front and back with black rope to tie it down. i can untie the rope and the sides and back go all the way down. when i don't need it down, i just roll it up and tuck it. i have used it all last summer and on 3 wheeling trips. i mounted 2 12 volt fans in back to frame for people in back seat. i can't believe how tough it is. it all comes off in one piece. only thing i don't like is it's not a roll cage. if i roll it won't help at all. i plan on getting a cage in the future and then putting the top over that.

i have a few from that wheeling trip. i'll try to get some pics of it off the truck sitting in my driveway. you notice how that guy was under my truck? we thought the linkage had popped off. kept going deeper and deeper showing off to the jeep guys and testing my snorkel and then the truck stopped moving. ran great but didn't move. no vent hose on the tranny is not good. tranny fluid and water don't mix. put in a rebuilt 700r4 that came with the 241 to replace the water logged turbo 350. it's funny though i could drive it about 100 yards till it heated up then it would slip. still made it back to my trailer. what a learning experience. definitely one of those idiot moments.
