My dash indicator light for "4 wheel drive" is not working. Changed all the dash lamps and still nothing. My service manual shows an indicator switch on the transfer case. I found a 2 wire connector at the top of the case while the manual suggests that it is in a different location which does not seem to exist. I assume this is it. If you have changed yours please let me know where you got the replacement part as NAPA does not show anything for it.
Thanks!

Been there before... Took me forever to find the correct switch.

GM still makes the switch for the 208.

I have the part number somewhere, let me go and dig it up for ya. ;)

The switch is available from the dealer. Part number 14037986 and cost $17.75

Sorry, I'm a little too slow... Should have gotten that part number for you earlier. :doah:

If it is, it is almost certainly a rebadged piece marked up from what they paid.

GMpartsdirect.com has it for $10.xx, probably $15 with shipping.

Cheap chinese piece, or factory quality?

id rather have quality but the closeest dealer is like 30+miles away...i live w/o a little 4x4 light. haha, i just got mine kinda working but it only works half the time.

In my experience with my 205 switch, they are kind of picky., There is a gasket that is supposed to go between the switch and t-case, without that gasket, the switch just doesn't seem to work right.

yeah...i pulled mine off yesteday and the gasket was broke...i put it back when i replaced theswitch so we'll see. ill try a new gasket first.

The dealer did not have it in stock. Had to special order it. You may want to call them and see if they have the part number in stock rather than waste a trip.

its the little things aint it?haha mine worked when i first got the truck, ahd the th400 put in and they didnt hook itup, i never thought much of it till this thread so i went out found it hookked it up nad low and behold half the time it worked. :) it was kinda kool.

i found another light too the CHOKE Light...hahaha, i thought that was damn kool, it just never lights up for me though :( haha

Here is the switch. It is mounted on top of the NP 208.

And wallah... Woo Hoo it works.
Sometimes it is the little things that can make your day!

It is a little tight but not too bad. Fortunately, our trucks already sit pretty high stock so no ramps are needed.
I used a 7/8" box end wrench on it and no problem.
