I thought the 208 had ATF?? What does it use and how much does the think oil hurt the 208? Just found a rear drive shaft for the M1009 and the slip has surface rust. Does that matter at all?

thanks for the help

It uses ATF. It uses in the neighborhood of 4-5 quarts to fill if totally dry. I dont think running a thick oil would be a wise idea as then don't have and oil pump. They only have slingers to throw oil up to the top of the case.

As for the surface rust on the driveshaft. If you can get the surface rust off then use it. The slipyoke goes directly into the case and the rust would get right in the oil supply contaminating the oil.
