I wanted to let people know how well the IR 2135Ti 1/2" impact gun worked.

We have three of them at work now. Two of them came into the shop around october, or september. The one I use is working great, but today the other one exploded today while being used.

I shouldn't really say explode, but the part that controls the flow, and has the inlet nipple on it shot out of the end when my co-worker was using it.

We use these things between 3 and 6 hours a day. So they get used ALOT.

It seems like the clip that keeps that assembly in the handle either broke, or just simpley worked it's way out. (you can kind of see the slot where the clip would go in the handle in the picture below).

Now besides that, these impact guns are friggin' FANTASTIC to use. Very, very light. Lighter then the 3/8" IR impacts we use on the smaller stuff. And they are very powerful aswell.

I am not trying to nay-say this product. I just figured that since this happened I should let people know. So if you own one, or may buy one, just keep an eye on that clip.

This also may have been a fluke, because the other two are still cranking bolts down, and have not shown any sign of fatigue at all. I have never seen this happen before. We are still using some IR 213c impacts that are over 3 years old, and they still work great aswell. They are just a lot heavier...

Only IR could deliver 1,000 ft.-lbs. of Nut Busting Torque in a gun that weighs just 3.95 lbs! Pound for pound, no other gun even comes close to the power and performance of our new 2135Ti. The first time you pick it up, you’ll see and feel the difference. It all starts with Titanium, which allowed us to create a compact 1/2" design that offers unbeatable strength and durability, yet weighs just 3.95 lbs. for less fatigue after a long day. Features:
Titanium weighs less, provides greater durability
Enhanced Twin Hammer impact mechanism for fast removal of frozen bolts
Professional touch trigger for ultimate power control
7-vane motor delivers 1,000 ft.-lbs. of Nut Busting Torque and 700 ft.-lbs. of traditional torque output.
Four-position power management control
Push button forward/reverse controls for one-handed operation
Ergonomic handle design for comfort and improved grip control
Through-handle exhaust; 360-degree swivel inlet DRIVE: 1/2 in. TORQUE RANGE: 50-600 ft.lbs./68-814 Nm NBT* (Nut Busting Torque): 1,000 ft.-lbs./1356 Nm Max. Torque: (Forward)-625 ft.-lbs./848 Nm; (Reverse)-700 ft.-lbs./949 Nm Blows Per Minute: 1,250 Free Speed: 9,500 rpm Net Weight: 3.95 lbs./1.79 kg Avg. Never had an issue out of mine. Used it for 6months at a mechanic shop doing mostly suspension work and it preformed everything I asked and then some. The 3/8 version is also an excellent investment as well.

heard of it happening before, get it replaced under warranty. If you sent in the warranty card in like you should have.

The clip you speak of isn't a clip that slides through there its a pair of tabs on the assembly that need to be pushed in to remove the valve body.

Used mine, everyday all day for almost 2 years without issue. Its still going like clockwork. The only problem I ever had was the air valve rubber split and it would creep. Cheap and easy fix.

Great guns overall.

IR recently came out with the 2135TiMax.

I've seen this happen twice, both on the IR versions. I have the Matco version and there are several more Matco versions in our shop. None of them have failed.

Again, not trying to knock the product, I personally love the one on my work bench, I just figured people should know.

And yeah I'm sure my bosses will get right on that warrenty thing.

I didn't really know whether it was a clip, or tabs or what. Those parts kinda flew whereever they decided to go, and would not reveal there where abouts. They are still on the loose....

But yeah, as stated above. I LOVE my 2135Ti. I wouldn't trade it for any other. The thing is friggin' light as hell, and has a crap load of torque. Love it. I just hope my tabs stay where the belong, and don't go galavanting about the shop.

I picked this up a few weeks ago. FREAKIN AWESOME!!! Since I have always boguth pasic econmy models/sets, this just blew me away when I hit a couple of bolts quick and the spun all the way off. Witht his at home, I'm not sure how much I'm gonna want to use my Dewalt cordless Impact at the racetrack to change tires...

Update:

Friday my 2135Ti shot the assembly out of the handle...

It seems like these impact guns are not meant for severe use. Now trust me, I never threw it around. I oiled it everyday, and never leave the air line hooked up when the impact gun is not in use.

But yeah, the tabs on the clip just seem to snap off after heavy use....

Just thought you guys should know about this. We have a third one in the shop. We'll see if it goes too.....
