231 and 241 shifters

so, ive got my doubler setup in my s10. im running the stock 231 with a d&d doubler feeding a 241c. im in the process of mocking up the shifters, and ive got two stock shifters for the 231 that i am going to modify and make a doubler shifter of the same pivot. anyways, i see that the distance between the two holes in the stock 231 shifter (the one the linkage connects to and the actual pivot) is different for the 231 and 241. the 231 is about 2.5" hole center to hole center. the 241 is about 3.25" hole center to hole center. i think what i want to do is lower the shifter for the 241 down to the same 3.25" spacing, but i want to make sure that is similar to the stock 241 shifter (which i dont have). can anybody confirm this for me?
 
I get about 3 3/4". Is this the dimension you meant?

im uploading pics now. i just realized that i measured everything wrong the first time.

because of the way these t-cases shift, meaning there is two (we will call them shift plates) that shift the t-case. there is a piece of rod between them, and the actual shifter mounts the forward one, and the rearward one is bolted to the t-case. on my 231, the forward shift plate is 2.5" hole center to hole center, but the rearward one is only 1.5". now, on the 241 i only have the rearward shift plate, and it is 3.25" hole center to hole center. what i need is the distance on the forward shift plate, the one that the actual shifter attaches to.

my other option is to use the shorter 1.5" 231 shift plate (i have two) on the 241 (if it will fit). pics to follow
 
ok, heres my setup.

now, the stock shifter has a throw of 2.5" (pics bad, but you get the idea)

it connects to another plate via a piece of rod. this piece has a throw of 1.5" (for the 231)

now the 241. i dont have the front piece, but the rear plate that bolts to the t-case and actually shifts it has a 3.25" throw

what i need to do is figure out how much i need to lengthen the (spare 231) shifter in order to get the correct ratio to shift the 241.
 
Your using the term throw incorrectly... throw is the distance traveled between the start and end point on the shift lever linkage hole. So what you need to measure is the actual throw when you move it thru the different positions. Next measure the throw of the shifter if it has preset locations like the NP208's.

What you measured (length of the arms) is important once you have the throw as you need to come up with a ratio of arm lengths to accomplish the correct throw to travel thru all the positions.

yes. i should mention that i am trying to use the stock detents from the 231 for the 241. this would probably be easier if i actually had the correct shifter and detent plate.
 
i figured out what i need to do. i have two 1.5" pieces from two 231's. it appears that the 241 and 231 have the same degree of movement in the shift plates, so i will swap the 241 to the shorter style and then i can just use the 231 shifters.
 
Just double and triple check that the shifter is not trying to over or under rotate the shift shaft in the t-cases. It would suck to go to all that work to get that working only to have it wear out prematurely or pop out of gear.

yeah, i will when i actually make the final version of the shifters.
