Great news!
I just got verification. These can and will be made for $185.00 + shipping.
RCV Performance will be doing the first one for me. Questions? Ask away!

Call up RCV Performance @ 815-877-7473 ext 1. Talk to Kraig or Sean. Tell them you want to order a 241/205 doubler intermediate shaft. The one Matthew Burg is involved with.

Now, I still need to get them the sample shafts to draw the real measurment from. Then it will be two to three weeks delivery time. I will be shipping the samples to them Monday morning.

How exactly will the adapter plates bolt up, They don't seem bad to make and the local metal place has tons of aluminum remnants

Probably drawling up the plates on cad and using them as templates is the best bet

I think this may be better than re-gearing , hopefully my front d-shaft is long enough

Will it hold up to a midly built big block with roughly 500 hp?

I'm going to go read this thread for the 18th time

Howdiy.
I'm just going to trace the 241 housing out and have.it cut with a water jet from 0.500 thick 6061 T6 aluminum. Then drill and tap it. Then cut a piece of scrap to weld into the end of the housing. As to holding up to 500 hp? Unknown, it is nothing more than the planetary section of a NP241 transfercase, draw your own conclusion. I think it would probably be OK. Just my uneducated opinion.

I'm very interested and will be following closely :D

I'm on the hunt for a 241 now

I will be sending Sean the two shafts that have the ends on them that need to be made into one shaft, so his engineer can take exact measurements from them. Plus $185.00 for my shaft, on Monday, March 21.
I have volunteered to play guinea pig on this one. Lets all hope this works...

Not yet, I sent the email about it pretty late on that day, and they are 3 hours in front of me. I'll be sure to get that info on Monday morning, when I order the shaft.

i was thinking about doing a 203 205 doubler but i already have a 241 i like the idea of this

Did you ever hear back about heat treat?

Chris,
Kraig from RVC sent me an email saying that their Heat treating process was basically a company secret, and hence would not be shared. He did say that the shaft they produce for me would carry the RCV warranty, "if it breaks, they will replace it." So evidently they have something special going on there.

On a second note, I got the shafts they will be using for measurement purposes, sent to them tonight, will arrive Friday, so, I'm about a month out.

Anyway, Chris, thanks for your concern. I was just taking the whole thing for granted. You brought it to my attention that they may not be heat treating it. I'm fairly comfortable with their promise.

It looks like it's easy to convert an np241 to 32 spline.

I've been looking and may have found one with an adapter of a th400, depends on how far away it is

subscibed..what all did 241's come in? isn't a 243 the same except elec solenoid shifted? and wheres the tech/build thread for your t-case

Dumb question, I assume a drivers drop case is need right?

A custom clocking ring could invert a passengers drop case to get on the drivers side. To shorten the combo you can also mod the 205 for rear shifting the one rail that is in the way of the case so no spacer is needed. A buddy of mine is working on that right now. He is doing a 208/205 with a rear shifted 205. The combo is supposed to come out about 20-21" overall when finished is his estimate currently.
