can you seperate teh range box from the 241? like you can with the 203?

You can separate the forward planetary drive from a 208 or a 241. But it does not provide a stand alone (shifting) range box like the 203. There have a been a few successful attempts to use it for a gear reduction like a "klune" type thing, but generally (IIRC) they don't shift and are not commercially available.
