I've been putting this problem off too long with my 241, I have been leaving little puddles everywhere and I just keep topping it off. Now it's puking it's guts out anywhere I go:doah:, it's leaking where ever there is a gasket.
While I have this thing apart what should I throw in there? I'm not looking to rebuild it since I'm doing an SYE on it soon and I'll rebuild it then I just need to reseal it. I'm thinking pads on the fork, but that's all I'm coming up with. Also if I take off the adapter won't ATF pour out from the Tranny or am I backwards on that? I just don't want to empty out my brand new tranny of all its expensive new fluid for no reason. Will RTV be fine for the Tcase or do I need gaskets for it?

You may lose a small amount of tranny fluid depending on how the truck is parked. But it is just a small amount.

When I rebuilt my 241 I didn't use any gaskets.....all sealed up with red RTV sealant, and not a leak or seepage.

Sweet, for some reason I was thinking my tranny was gonna puke all over me. That is fantastic new, 241s just some chain and gears right? I've done a 205 is it harder or easier? I'm looking at a break down and some pictures and it looks really dam easy.

Just pull the perimeter bolts out and slide it apart. Sometimes it can be tricky to get the shaft back in the planetary and the shiftrail lined up dropping the back half of the case in, but it is pretty easy.

On my doubler I used "The right stuff" The second time around and no leaks(at least from there)

Sounds good, thanks on the right stuff tip I don't want any leaks. I have a REALLY loud clattering in 2WD hi mph coasting that goes away with gas. rear output bearing?
