My slip yoke is leaking out of the center cap(plug). I have read all about trying to weld and seal it, but I'v also read that if it is leaking that means the splines are worn. They look O.K. Does anyone have a Slip yoke they want to get rid of? I figured I would replace it and do it right.

Thanks in advance,
Jake

just becasue it is leaking it does not mean that the splines are bad, its probley one of the stupid rocktell slipyokes that are crap, the deflection of the ears under load causes the yoke to start and leak, you could use an epoxy and cover the welch plug and you should be fine

I've seen the plugs epoxied, brazed and welded. I've tried the epoxy method to no avail, the yoke develops significant hydraulic pressure upon suspension compression that can easily overcome JB weld. In the end I had to weld it up with the wirefeed and test it under pressure to eliminate the leak.

there should be not hydrlic pressure, maby your shaft was to long and was actually bottoming out on the transfer case splines, in NASCAR they use epoxy on ther slip yoke and they have no issues
