How do you guys sift your 241 into low range? The manual says that you need to be moving at about 5mph with the tranny in neutral, and just "swiftly" move it into 4-low. It even says something like dont slow down around neutral, just keep going. Well when I do it like the book says, I'll get a metal clang noise coming out of it. Is this normal? Its not that loud, but something that made me wonder.

AAAhhhh Christ a IFS Blazer, jeez its stock too, does it get any worse??? Could be a ford.

I am at a complete stop when I shift mine. If I am moving it makes horrible noises.

I will try to shift it SWIFTLY in neutral at a complete stop at first but if you are locked with low tire pressure sometimes it helps to be rolling VERY slow. Everything gets bound up I guess....

And swiftly doesn't mean forcefully. If it binds, bump it forward or reverse first and then stop and try in Neutral again. I use the rolling method as a LAST resort. And don't force it - you will learn the way your truck likes and it should be a silent and smooth shift.

My 241 prefers to be stopped and in neutral.

If you are having too much fun it's probably illegal.

Yes, neutral. Also on flat ground is easier but when you need 4 low that can be hard to come by.
