Is there a difference between the 24v starter on the cucv's and the standard 12v starter for a 6.2. This is all on my 86 k3500. The starter got stuck yesterday when I was trying to start it. I pulled the key and it kept trying. So we pulled the neg battery cable. Apparently the inside of the starter got stuck and kept trying to crank. Can I use the 12v starter or will it not work?

Yes the starter is 24V. Will a 12V starter work? I dunno, probably for alittle while. The manufacturer's part number for the 24V solenoid is 1114373. I would bet the rest of the (mechanical) parts are standard diesel fare. I would talk to a local altenator/starter rebuild shop and see what they say. Either that or convert the truck to straight 12V; the 12V geared starters are twice as strong.
