whats a good combo to reach a reliable 250 hp 450 lb tq from a 6.2?
i have a 1991 k30 with 4l80 and would like to see these numbers or close to them from the 6.2.i will be getting a banks kit for it and have a low miles j code that i will be going through to make sure it is a solid base to build from.
i will be using it for towing my jimmy-8k-9k with trailer.
thanks

the banks kit i got says if i remember right 195hp with 380pounds off torque.i think you would need more boost than the banks system would give. better turbo, and a strong block.i think you have to lower compression with different pistons to be able to reach more boost and more power.i have timing gear, arp head studs with 6.5td head gaskets and block girdel.got a 1 ton model spec fuel pomp rebuilt and marine injectors.i was towing my 6000lbs travel trailer with my jimmy. done it for 5 summers power wise it was ok,but if i couldn,t take a good run before hill it would slow me below 50,on highway ,was good on fuel .i did have 3.42 gears that didn,t help. now i bought a c2500 1995 tbi with 410 ratio 5.7. took it once, last week with same trailer power is different can,t say its much better than my 6.2.rpm is way higher and its gonna love gas. hope it helps!

i read that.nice build wanting to more extrnal stuff.if i haveto do a rebuild i would swap out to 18-1 pistonso i can run more boost.but that is out of the budget rignt now.

What code motor do you have? Hopefully its the non egr. If not do the intake swap and while your in the gasket match everything that will add a few ponies in its self. Turn the pump up and run 10 to 12 psi of boost. 4in exhaust and a cai. That will prolly net you around 210 to 220 hp range. Depending on how many miles your motor has on it will determine how long it will last at that power output.

Gotta remember those are RWHP numbers. Flywheel numbers are going to be higher. A TBI 350 for comparison sake might put down 150 at the rear wheels...if it's healthy and in good tune.
