Where do i find this drive sleeve? its the one with the bearing on it. Can i replace it with one that don't use the bearing ? I would just leave the bearing out? I stole this pic from google.

That must be an early pre 1973 style adapter?...my 72 K5 had that splined bearing type sleeve in the adapter..I swapped a NP205 and SM 465 into it instead of the TH350/NP 205 it had..someone welded the rear output shaft and yoke and the retaining nut into one solid mass when they stripped the nut out--it was a failure, the weld didn't stick to the yoke, and it wobbled for a year or so until the splines gave out..

I cant say for sure, but that bearing may be splined in its inside diameter, its hard to tell if that is a separate sleeve or not..
Maybe you could chop off a TH350 driveshaft slip yoke and use the splined part for a sleeve?..be better if it were supported by a bearing probably--but the old 10 spline SM465's didn't use a bearing..(and often had the coupler and tailshaft on the tranny wear the splines out bad, maybe that was why?)..

my 80 350/205 had that adapter...if your interested I could see if I still have it floating around w/ that t/c.

That bearing is redundant and doesn't do anything, GM deleted it after the first few years. It doesn't need to be there.

ok thanks guy's so i can just replace it with a new one [if i can find it] that dont have the bearing. The trouble i,m having is trans fluild is leaking into transfer case . I have put seals in it two times.

Have you replaced the o-ring on the input gear? Is the seal surface good?

is the seal in the adaptor correctly ?

seal has 2 sides . the side you can see the spring on the rubber lip that holds the lip tight agains the object get the oil/grease side .

spring side to lube side.

if in backwards = blow by and no sealing going to happen .

Yes i put them in the correct way. I'm thinking about putting a 208,241 in it just to keep from fooling with it any more but i would have to change the shafts lol
