27 spline NP 241

What would it take to make my 27 spline Transfercase mate up to the 4L80E that Greg Ducato will build for me?

I really didn't want to go back into my case after I installed the slip yoke eliminator kit, But?

Greg said he can build a custom 27 spline output shaft for the 4L80E that would mate right up to my 27 spline 241.

I just feel if im going to put all that trans in, should I not convert, if possible my case to a 32 spline?

Or should I just go with the custom 27 spine shaft for the 4L80E?
What do you guys think please?

Ok, is that all I would need to change in my case, would it swap right in?

I would probably swap the input of the transfer case to the 32 spline as it would make it easy to if you ever had to swap stuff around later. Or if you got the urge to swap something else in.
It probably will be more money and definitely more time than the custom shaft in the transmission.

is the 32 spline a direct swap without needing anything else in the case? just swap input and reseal the halves?

32 spline input is the way to go imo. I have a few for sale or you can pick them up from ORD or maybe Greg can buy them wholesale. If going used make sure to get one that is pre 1993 as the bearing size is different 93+.

Yes it is a direct swap, the planetaries are the same but make sure the thrust washers are positioned correctly. I can post up some pics tomorrow if you like.

this is a good video and there are others. Make sure you have a heavy duty snap ring tool. It has to have wide flat jaws to get most of the snap rings off.
