27 Spline vs 30 spline?

What is the advantage of 30 spline over 27 spline on the axle's? Is it interchangeability,strength,durability? I was reading the CK5 specs and on the '89's up GM went with 30 spline axle's and I'm trying to explain to my wife if there is an advantage to this. Even whether if swapping out the GM 10bff for a 14bff for beefier ring & pinion is all worth the consideration.

It is stronger, its definitely not a huge massive difference, but it is a bit stronger, now the 14bt on the other hand is a huge difference from either 10bt, but if you plan on staying with im assuming a 5.0 and 31in tires, the 14bt probably isnt going to be necessary.

The later shafts are totally not worth the upgrade considering you need to change your spider gears, or purchase a new locker/posi. On top of that you would be limiting your replacement axle shaft selection to 2 years of production instead of 13 or so.
