I've got a 1976 400 sbc in my garage that needs a new home. I'm not too far away, and could swing a sweet deal if youre interested.

Nice!

some specs mouse? does it run? is it complete? how good is the crank? id really like to build a 383 stroker...hehe... im coming up to great falls the 28th, so i could come pick it up... what kind of deal are we talkin?

You mean DE-stroker out of a 400 .

OOPS after reading this again , he wants the crank only . Motor rapist , they are hard to come buy now unmolested :thumb:

not trying to break up a deal, but I always always recommend buying a new made stroker crank rather than the old school turning of a 400. I garauntee you can buy a NEW cast crank for less than buying a 400 crank, having it checked out, turning and polishing it to work.

I agree with that statement, that's what i was trying to say in my last response. You can get a 9000 series cast scat crank which aren't bad for about $220.00. Around here the crank grinders get $95.00 for a grind plus an additional $180.00 for the extra material they must remove and if you want it magged (always a good idea in this situation) thats another $40.00 so now you're already up to $315.00.

The engine is complete minus the intake and exhaust manifolds. It was re-gasketed and put into a friends suburban before he pulled it to drop in a 500 caddy. Its his engine, and I know he wants to get rid of it cheap (not sure exact figure), but if you want I'll give him a call. This week he is in Texas visiting family, but I'm sure I could get a hold of him.

so its actually your friend's...

yeah id love to have a 400 tostick into my 78... i would really like to pick it up while i am in great falls.

I spoke with the owner and got a price. He told me that he has an intake and pulleys for it as well, but unfortunately they are at his house. I still might be able to get them for you, but I forgot to ask if someone had the keys to his garage.

Give me a call when you get into town. Give me your email addy and I'll shoot you my telephone #.

? new crankshafts are ready to drop in pieces. If you want them balanced you have to do that, but otherwise they are good to go.
