283 v-8

Will a 283 v-8 pull my k5 around till spring when the new motor arrives?

It runs good the guy says...

I'll take a 305 at this point in time...

yeah, it should have power just to carry the weight of the K5, but going up big hills, carrying heavy loads, or fighting a strong wind, you would probly be going vary slow.
But nice choice of motor!

I have that motor in my 61' Impala and it hits the scales at around 4700lbs and with 6 people in it she goes along with no problem.

I found a guy with a running 305 for 100 bucks... I'm gonna go pick it up righ tnow.. an dpop it in for a ferw months till the 350's done...

I hate 305's but it'll work foew 2 months /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

yeap my dads got it in his 64 too..pushes it right along pretty good..dont sound to bad with dual glass packs either!
