I just can’t decide. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. I really wanted to use my rally wheels, but tire selection is getting slim for 15s. I wanted 33x10.5s, but most are on back order till who knows when. Other than the cost of some steel wheels and most tires of this size being E rated, any other cons to going 285/75/16s??
I should say, I’m only needing an all terrain. I’m especially liking the hybrid all terrains that are being offered now.

How square do the tires look? It's not that I'm wanting the skinny tire look, as I don't want the bulge of a 12.5 tire on the 8in wheels. Maybe I'm just splitting hairs about this whole thing.

I went with 9" rims because Costco wouldn't do anything less than 8.25" and I didn't want to buy new wheels so I had these laying around.

Keep the rally wheels.

A 12.50 looks fine on an 8" wheel.

I'm starting to agree. Keeping the rallys & 33x12.5s is the most cost effective. (Lowering the blazer isn't cheap!)
Since I was planning a long road trip, I was thinking the smaller footprint & higher psi would be better. And I really like these cooper/mickey t's:

I want to like Cooper. They’re an American owned/made here company and have good products. But I got burned by a set once, only 9k miles, and now I’m hesitant without a mileage warranty. In all fairness, I did drive the piss out of that car up and down some mountain roads.
I find that Cooper owns Mickey Thompson. And good chance that the Baja’s are made at the same plant as the cooper st Maxx’s. Only the Baja’s have a mileage warranty.

But the question is still plaguing me. Is it worth an additional +600 dollars to switch to 16 wheels and what I believe is a better tire for long road trips with camping gear?
*the Baja’s in 33x12.5x15 on my rally wheels is my 15in compromise.

yup go 17" if you switch. Are/do you want a bigger tire than the 33", If so go 17" x9" rim and the tire you want.

Some of Cooper tires have mileage warranty. guess not the Maxx

I hear you on going 17s. But I don't think I'm ready to jump that far up, I'm still a 15in wheel kinda guy...
Definitely not looking to go bigger than 33s. Currently have 35in Goodyear MTRs (15in) with less than 1k miles on them, that I will trying to unload soon.

how much do you want on the 35s?

If you’re going up in size, you might as well go to 17” the wheel and tires options really increase.

Gotcha... miss understood...
I have the Pro comp A/T sport in 37 and have been happy with them.. they have them in the size you’re after.

I have the ProComp A/T Sport on my tow rig. And Dick Cepeks on my TJ. Here they are getting tires at the same time.
