292 or 350??

Thinking of swaping my 350 for a 292?? Ya or Na???

I had a 1965 grain truck that I followed the grain harvest with after high school in the mid-seventies (that's right, I'm an old fart). 292 and an SM420. That truck had stump pull'n guts. Super reliable engine, lots of low end torque. It won't have that snap horse power feeling like a beloved small block but I think it's a great engine.

I've had a couple trucks with straight sixes, one 250 and one 292. They are awesome engines and will run forever. The 292 one's body completly rotted off...so it went to scrap. I beat the living p!ss outta the 250, took it all in stride. I sold it to one of my friends unlces...he's still using it to haul wood up north.

However, I wouldn't swap a 350 for a 292. Unless you absolutly needed to get the truck on the road, and it was all you had at 9pm on a sunday night.

292? From what? I recently swapped in a 4.8L (I was told it is a 294) computer controlled SPFI engine into my '85. I had the computer reprogrammed to up the performance and let me tell you IT IS SMOKIN'!!! An added plus is no stalls on the trail thanks to the fuel injection.

Someone stuck one in the first Chevelle I owned ........... Would leave a light like a V8 when I dumped the clutch :D
