I've been looking into tires for the blazer. I have 305-70-16's right now and they look a little small. I wanted to go with something a little bigger, but not 35"'s. I have 3.73 gears and a stock 350tbi right now, although this will turn into an LS motor or a 383 this winter.

I stopped by Xpress here in San Diego and spoke with Tony, who pointed me towards the Nitto Terra Grapplers for my Toyota and I've been really happy with them. He mentioned the 295/75/16 size as an option as they are 34.4" tall. I never would've known to consider this a taller tire than my 305's. I know the numbers take into account a % of this, etc, but just wouldn't have thought about that size as an option. It sounds like they would be the perfect fit, although they are a little bit narrower than the 305s. Does anyone have any experience with this size. It's going on my 4" Tuff Country Lift. Thanks, steve.

the 295/75/16 should be 33.4"

the 305/70/16 would be 32.8"

Just found the tire size calculator, you are right 33.4. I'm a little concerned that they are about a half inch narrower, but they sound like the perfect height. Looks like the 305-75-16 would keep the width and give me a 34" tire. That seems better than the narrower tire, can't imagine these short wheel base things need to be narrower than they already are!

yeah, 305/75/16 would be perfect for what you are looking for

i've got 32x11.50x15...but i'll go with 33's next time...i only have 3.73 gears, so i don't want to go any taller on the tires

How big is your lift?

Looks like 305/75/16 isn't a common size for any manufacturer. I'm kinda stuck on the Nittos or BFGs.

i have stock springs with ORD zero rates, adding 1"

i had a 2" rancho lift but didn't like the stiffness, so i went back to the stock springs and added the zero rates for just a little lift...still rides well that way

I hear ya, my ride is terrible with this Tuff Country lift. I may be considering different options as well. I'm hoping Bilsteins and new tires will make it as good as possible, if that doesn't work, then it's different springs.

I've put bilsteins on anything truck, suv, offroad I've owned in the last 10 years. Makes a huge difference. I had a 85 toyota, solid axle front/rear with hard tires and old shocks. Put new tires and bilsteins, it was like a cadilac, no kidding. I've been sold on good tires and bilsteins ever since. I'm sure it will make a big difference on this, but I think these springs are just too much for my liking.

i feel like the KYB shocks i have now don't hold the tire to the road...you can feel tire hop whenever hitting any kind of bump at highway speeds...i think the Bilsteins should help that
i think the KYBs would be ok if i was running the small stock 235/75/15 tires, but not with the 32's

I'm just about convinced that the 295/75/16 is the right tire, but can't find anyone with a pic of a 4" lift with these tires. I looked at the sticky thread at the top of the page and no luck. Anyone?

Looks like very limited availability in this size. That could be a concern if I get stuck somewhere. Just have to have a spare ready. Anyone have anything bad to say about this size before I pony up the $$$$$. Any horror stories about availability?

I found em on tirerack.com for 217/ tire. BFG's that is.

Back in May I put on a Skyjacker 4inch all spring lift and the ride is way better than stock. My tires are 315/75/16's.

315/75r16

just sayin.\ :dunno:

Buddy

I must've been looking at a different size last week when I said there wasn't much selection on 315/75/16. As it turns out, the 295/75/16 doesn't have much of a selection. Are you running 4.10 or 4.35 gears?

700R4 transmission; 4.56 gears with 315/75x16. It was just about enough gear with the 10-bolt, but I sure notice the extra weight/bearing drag/somesuch of the bigger front axle now.
