Hi guys,

I have been thinking about putting a small lift on my 1972 K5. But I am puzzled by a few questions......that i cant answer.

#1......I'd really like a 2 inch lift (front springs & rear blocks).........but nobody sells a 69-72 2 inch lift kit for under 400.00..............yet I can buy the 69-72 4inch lift kit for 299.00 from National Tire & Wheel.

#2. If I go with a 4 inch lift for my 72 K5...........will the driveshafts need to be lengthend?.....my K5 has 350/350/Np205. I know I can lower the crossmember down an inch if nessesary. I didnt need to when I lifted my 84 long box chevy with a 4inch lift.........but it also had a slip yoke Np208 which allowed me to stretch out the rear D. shaft.

Also, if I went with the 4inch lift.......I would guess, that I wouldnt need the raised steering arm........or brake line mods.............based on the fact i didnt need to do this stuff to my 84 chevy when I lifted it 4 inches.

#3. I've heard of some guys using 73-87 lift kits on 67-72 trucks.......I've heard both YES.....&.......NO.....to this question. Just curious if it does work????

Thanks for any help.

Your driveshafts should be fine. Brake lines and a steering arm aren't necessary but usually still needed. You can relocate the brake line brackets if needed

#1 Supply and demand. Most people go with at least a 4" lift so they are plentiful and relatively cheap.

#2 Probably not but every rig is different. Some form of steering correction is usually required on anything 4" and larger.

#3 The front springs won't work from a 2nd Gen on a 1st Gen but the rears will.
