2WD or 4WD Frame?

Everything factory will be riveted on. 2wd vs 4wd rear spring hangers are different, 2wd shorter than 4wd. If this was converted over 2wd to 4wd, the front would be higher than the rear, in less a block was in there. GM don't think used blocks after the 60s maybe the early 70s. There will be holes in the frame for the control arms, can't remember how many. But not on a 4wd frame.

After more research, this is what I found. Frame rails are identical in dimension, just holes added/removed depending on 2WD vs 4WD. The front crossmember is different. People use 4x4 and convert them to 2WD all the time, just swap front suspension part and rear spring hanger over. Here's a link of someone who did a conversion (disregard the fact that one's a Blazer and the other a pickup ):

And I found another link for the frame dimension specs, this is the one I see everyone referring to:

But doesnt a 2wd frame still have spring pockets for a coil?

See above link.

So in short, unless someone went through a lot of work, to check for a 2WD frame I'd check for the holes where the front suspension mounts to and the front crossmember.

I'm here.:pimp:

I found out the frail rails are different actually but not much of significant importance. Where the rear shackle would bolt up the arch of the rails are different.

The entire ifs assembly is only held in by say 10 bolts?

When I did my crew, once they front crap was out of the way, first glance couldn't tell it was a 2wd frame. I used the B52 kit, and only issue I had was a stock 4wd crossmember wouldn't work, was too tall. I tried a 1/2 and 1 ton, but were the same thing. I changed both hangers out back, used a 1/2 ton shackle for the poor man's flip....so can't comment on the holes....

On a side note, if you search my s/n on google, my crew will come up. There were a couple pics of the front suspension pretty much complete laying on the ground.
