It's a 7/8-14tpi jam nut. It's half the thickness of a regular nut...
I got fed up trying to source one at any of the loacl fastener places and went to GM. Cost me $7 and I had it in my hands in 35 seconds. I probably spent more in fuel checking a half dozen other places out.

yes 1/2 the thickness... i used the d60 nut as it was double the thickness and I had the extra threads on the shaft for it...
