What does it take to put on a 2wd steer box on a 91 blazer 4x4, new here, if this has been answered already with pics, please give me a link to it.
Thanks, Scott

Unbolt 4 wheel drive box. Bolt on 2 wheel drive box. Also use a steering box brace, this item is not optional. You will need a box that fits your hoses, somewhere around '81 or '82 and newer, or you can use an older box with the older pump and hoses. The only difference in the boxes through the years is the type of hose connections.

offroad design.com or the vendor form for box brace . 1 of the best add ons on my truck . iam sure every one will agree. like he said unbolt bolt and blead and run.

Are you trying to do it for crossover steering? If so why don't you just change out the sector shaft from a 2WD box and put it in your current one? That's what I did and it only takes like 15 min's. Most of it was getting the pitman arm off the old one:mad:

I wasn`t sure if the 2wd box bolted to the outside of the frame or the inside.

all full size trucks bolt outside rail

cars and s-10s are the inboard ones

4x2 and 4x4 are same thing

c-10 c20 c30 k5 k10 k20 k30, duallies, burbs blazers, pickups, chassis cabs, all of them all same deal late '68/early'69-up(integral ball and worm power steering)

79 older are flare seat lines, 80-up are o rings seats

the only thing different between them all is the pitman arm shaft diameter

2wd boxes are cheap, 20 or 30 bucks tops, put in 2wd shaft and youre all done, cept for pitman arm

gonna need a pitman arm puller tool, they are cheap, pull the arm off then remove four top cover bolts and pull the shaft out of the box, put in 2wd one andmm bolt cover back on

done

about 10 minutes overall, or so, dont even need to remove box from truck

im a noob, but why use a 2wd box? whats the advantage over a stock 4wd one? jus would like to know cuz mine is coming off soon cuz i think my frame is cracked (i gota repair it and get one of those sterring box braces, who all sells these BTW?)
thanks!

the 2wd box is for crossover, you need it for crossover cuz it has muiltiple settings so you can make it go side to side needed for crossover, and the 4wd box only has the front to back movement.

not to hijack but can i get a new 2wd shaft from some where?

go to the junk yard with large pry bar BFH a 1 and 5/16 socket with cheater bar for pitman nut there are four small bolts on top of the sector shaft unbolt put a catch pan under neath and pull that sucker out. Install is the same way but make sure to have the steering box centered before you start. Piece of cake.
