2wd steering box problem

I rotated the thing but i didnt know about the damn bearings. Damnit. It took forever to find that damn box. 70 bucks down the s---ter.

I can get it back together for you. You would need to ship it to me though and back and forth plus my labor may not be cost effective. If you do decide though you would like me to do it i can drill and tap for hydro assist and re-assemble the box for $75.00 labor. You would just need to make sure you have every piece of that box. I could also get you the correct splined rag joint sent back along with the box. PM me if you're interested.

I threw it in the trash. The box was missing 6 ball bearing. The ones that fell out fell into the case so none of them went on the floor or table. The box has been rebuilt before so who ever did it ****ed it up. Sucks cause now i have to get another box and i'm already out $70 bucks. Sometimes this do it yourself crap really bites.

Ok, the splined rag joint assembly is either a motormite # 31011 3/4" shaft size or a 31015 13/16" shaft size.

Sorry to highjack but 4x4 High you seem to know a lot about this and I have a question. I did the crossover but my turning radius is not too good now. What steering arm do I need to look for to get maximum turning radius.

Depends on the pitman arm you used in conjuntion with the steering arm. Did you use the 1104 or something else? I used a tj/yj arm i purchased from WFO and i used there recommended steering arm. Call them and ask for Trevor. All steering arms are different. I used the set-up i did because i didnt want to deal with any problems from the pitman arm. A lot of people use the 1104 and have problems with it hitting the springs or not working right at all for there setup. So after talking with a few members on here and talking with Trevor. i decided on the setup i mentioned above. Here is a pic of my arm and pitman.

Not sure what arm you need, but mine came from ORD and so did my crossover. My steering radius is much improved over the stock steering.

Ok, so I got a new rag joint asy. from NAPA yesterday (part #630-1446) and it slid right on my new gearbox. You could actually tell the opening for the input shaft to go in was bigger just by looking at it. Here's the strange part, the rag joint was listed as a replacement for a '74(that's what my truck is) and fit fine on the new gearbox, only my original '74 ragjoint no chance of it fitting:confused:   So either the gear they sent was a different year or this ragjoint fits everything? Don't know if this helps at all but just thought
I'd pass the part number along.
