I searched for the break down of the box, but did not find anything. I need to know how to mount my JKW ported end cap. If anyone knows of a tech article, can you post up the link?

clean the end of the box. you'll find a circle clip. pull that out, then the cap and reinstall your new cap with the clip going in last.

The end cap is that easy, but you'll either need to drill and tap the steering box for the other line or pull the top cover off and either drill and tap it or install the JKW cap there which is more involved.

I was planning on pulling the top cap off and tapping it. Is there anything I need to look for when pulling the caps off? I dont want things flying out when I pull them off.

Well then that makes sense. Does it count when your steering wheel is already crooked?

Don't worry about where the steering wheel is, turn full lock in one direction then count the turns to lock in the opposite direction then back the amount and the box will be centered. If the box isn't centered you won't be able to remove the cap/sector shaft.

You can take the top cap off without pulling the sector shaft, it's just a nylon lock nut on there.

Count the number of threads showing on the shaft, and use an allen key to keep the shaft in place while you loosen the nut. You'll have to thread the cap off too.

ETA: Use an allen key to keep the the shaft from turning while removing the jam nut, and top plate. Failure to do so will wreck your return to center characteristics.

Reinstall the same way, tighten the nylock down until you've got the same threads showing.

Here's a couple of good links:

Saginaw Box Rebuild

While you're at it, might as well do this too:
Pump Mod

I did it this way with the box still on my truck to fix a seal leak. I didn't want to have to pull the pitman arm off again.

Sorry bud, doesn't work that way. The nylock nut is just a jam nut to keep the stud from turning. That stud is attached to the sector shaft and is threaded through the top cap so you would have to remove the jam nut then unscrew the stud out of the cap effectively making the cap move up until it was free of the sector shaft. Once that is done the adjustment would need to be readjusted. It is alot easier to remove the cap and sector shaft as one piece and then carefully drill and tap the cap and reinstall.
