Anybody know how much I should pay for one and how hard is it to replace the shaft in a steering box.

i just bought a whole 2wd box out of an 86 for $40. I dont have any experience replacing just the shaft so im no help there though.

they go for around 20$. Install is easy, remove pitman arm(need puller), place bucket under box, remove the 4 top bolts, pull the sector shaft out the top, put the cap and set skrew on new sector shaft in same spot with same number of threads showing, slide into box from top, torque the 4 bolts, reinstall pitman arm. Top off fluid and bleed. Its a great way to flush all the fluid out of your system as well.
